  • Do I need WiFi at the location?
    Yes. If you don’t have WiFi you can visit your local cell phone store and purchase a hotspot. One hotspot can operate up to 15 devices. Your cell phone provider will charge you approximately $10/month. * Don’t want to purchase a hotspot... you can use the display on your smart phone to set your Guardian Smart Fan Control, Bin Monitor or Plenum Sensor without wifi at the grain bins! Here’s how: When you get close enough to the bin, the Guardian Switch and Sensors connect to the hotspot in your smart phone. The switch operates in automatic without being connected to the wifi. To remote monitor and control from anywhere on your smart phone you would need wifi at the bins.
  • Are there any subscription fees from Guardian GMS?
    No, there are no subscription fees from Gaurdian GMS.
  • How much is the app to operate my switch?
    Nothing, it is a completely free app. Go to your local app store search “stepsgms” and download.
  • Can this switch save me on my energy bill?
    Yes, we’ve pulled local data from the National Weather Station and you can save up to 50% on your yearly energy bill if you run your fans in automatic according to the suggested set points.
  • Can I run more than one fan from one switch?
    Yes, but depending on the distance between fans and the cost of wiring it usually is more cost effective to purchase another switch. We recommend one switch per fan.
  • If I lose power will the fan come back on with the power?
    Depending on your setting choices within the app the fan may resume or shut off.
  • What do I do if the humidity and temperature readings are always the same?
    Shut off all power to the switch. Unplug the humidity/temperature switch from the internal board. Wait a few minutes and plug the sensor back in and turn power back on. You may also want to add some dielectric grease to the connection as well. You may also need to update your app, make sure all updates have been performed.
