Mechanical/Structural Design Engineer (Spokane, WA)

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

Minimum of 1 completed internship required.

Experience Requirements

Project management experience required.

Strong communication skills required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products required.

Experience in electro-mechanical design, hydraulics, power transmission and/or PLC controls is preferred.

Agricultural background preferred.

Working knowledge of an ERP system preferred.

Solidworks modeling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Under guidance of the Director of Engineering, the Mechanical/Structural Design Engineer will design new products using Mechanical Engineering principles.

  • Work directly with Engineering Managers to create new product(s) identified by a new product introduction team, or to sustain existing product lines.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to identify new product development opportunities.
  • Utilize Solidworks modeling software on a daily basis to develop new designs and create detailed drawings.
  • Conduct various design reviews (conceptual, preliminary, DFM and final) with Sales and Operations personnel.
  • Develop and adhere to project timelines.
  • Work independently or with a team.
  • Work directly with R&D lab personnel to create and test prototypes, develop weld fixtures, and define procedures.
  • Work with Operations personnel and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve product fit, form, or finish issues.
  • Prepare and support any technical documents, installation manuals, and operational manuals.
  • Assist customer support representatives, service/warranty, and dealers with customer issues.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to identify any possible quality improvements, cost reduction measures, and practices to improve efficiencies.
  • Work with Purchasing personnel to specify and source any new design components.
  • Implement and support any product improvements with an ECR/ECN procedure.
  • Research and evaluate new engineering technologies within the industry.
  • Travel as needed for testing, product support, and trade shows.
